My son is 55 inches and slim. I bought the 8 slim and it fits him perfectly. We needed it for a more dressy occasion and he only owned jeans. These pants worked out perfectly. I chose khaki color. It has a decidedly green tint to it. The material is very stiff but softened a little in the wash. The knees look to be bullet proof. That would make it good for rough play at school; but I think the material is too uncomfortable, though my son never complained. Maybe it's worse than it looks. Visually, I find it attractive, so he will be using these as dress pants. -- Looks great. Feels tough.
